Shameik Moore rocked the world of animation with his debut as Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Now, Moore reveals that his aspirations lie beyond the Spider-Verse and squarely in the MCU.
Rising actor Shameik Moore introduced much of the non-comic reading world to Miles Morales in Into the Spider-Verse. With part one of the sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse set to debut later this year and the third film of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in the works, Moore has cemented himself as the most prolific actor for Miles and, in many fan’s eyes, the definitive version of the character. When asked if he would ever be willing to portray the character in live-action, Moore admits he’d be a good fit, but it wouldn’t be without its complications.
“I feel like everyone knows I would be a great [live-action] Miles Morales,” Moore told Empire “I think Tom Holland knows, too. It just depends on how old they want Miles to be by the time they’re ready to do a live-action movie. That’s the conundrum with whether or not I end up playing him.”
Moore is currently 27-years-old, which is eight years older than Tom Holland when he first made his MCU debut. Considering that Miles is often portrayed as being much younger than Peter Parker, and Moore is only going to get older, it’s not very likely we’ll see him as the MCU’s main Miles Morales. However, with Spider-Man: No Way Home opening the door to a live-action Spider-Verse, it’s possible we could see Moore as a variant in a future film.
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Dave Callaham, Across The Spider-Verse also features the voice talents of Jake Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jason Schwartzman, Rachel Dratch, Shea Whigham and Jorma Taccone. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Christina Steinberg are producing the upcoming movie alongside Lord and Miller, who also worked on its predecessor.
The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse synopsis reads as follows: “Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga… After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2023. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming movie and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
