- Cameron Green was adjudged the Player of the Match.
- Sachin Tendulkar was very impressed with Green’s performance.
- Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs.
Having lost Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession, Mumbai were in a spot of bother but Green along with Tilak Varma and Tim David gave the innings — the all-important momentum that turned out to be crucial in the context of the game.
Talking about Green’s knock, Tendulkar said that he learned something from the Australia allrounder and it can serve as a life lesson to any cricketer or for anyone in any walk of life.
“I think, today I learned something, and I feel that we all have picked the same message from Green. He can hit the ball as long as anyone in the team but the initial phase was a tough phase for him and he did not let his ego come in the way,” said Tendulkar.
“Ego is something which will always encourage you to do the wrong things. He did not. He chose the right path in the interest of our team. He could have easily tried to play some stupid shot. Had he been dismissed, who knows, we may not have gone to 192. So I think a big, big round of applause to him (Green) for his effort. Special one,” he further added.
The 23-year-old was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance, both with the bat and the ball as he returned with figures of 1 for 29.
“I think the first couple of games were a learning curve for me and our team. Bit of a sticky situation (when I walked out to bat). But glad the plans came off. I am a work in progress with my bowling at the death. Obviously, we can continue with the winning momentum,” said the Mumbai Indians allrounder in the post-match presentation ceremony.
