Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks was arrested on charges of domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism after an alleged incident with his ex-girlfriend at a movie theater in Nashville on Saturday.
The incident took place in the parking lot, where Claybrooks allegedly grabbed a cell phone from the woman’s hand and damaged it by throwing it to the ground, according to an affidavit from the Davidson County, Tenn., clerk of criminal courts obtained by the Florida Times-Union.
The affidavit reportedly said the alleged victim had multiple bruises and abrasions to her right hand.
The woman, who told police that she was Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend, said she informed his current girlfriend that she had been with him the night before and had proof on her phone, the report stated.
That’s when the woman alleged that the 25-year-old Claybrooks grabbed her hand, ripped the phone away and threw it to the ground, destroying it.
Claybrooks, who is a Nashville native, is free on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 1.

The vandalism charge is $1,000 or less and both charges are misdemeanors, according to arrest records — which say both offenses occurred on Friday, and that Claybrooks was arrested on Saturday.
According to the affidavit, Nashville police were called to the residence of Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend, who said she was in an argument with Claybrooks in the movie theater parking lot around 8 p.m. on Saturday, after he arrived at the theater with another woman.
A spokesman for the Nashville Police Department said the arrest report was not yet public information since the case was still open, the Florida Times-Union reported on Tuesday.
“The Jaguars are aware of a recent incident in Nashville, Tennessee involving Chris Claybrooks and are currently in the process of gathering information,” said John Dever, the Jaguars’ senior vice president and chief communications officer. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

On Tuesday, Claybrooks shared a photo on his Instagram Story that showed what appeared to be a woman’s hand at a dinner table.
Claybrooks — who was selected by the Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft — just finished his third season with Jacksonville, where he appeared in all 18 games in his latest campaign.
He has 81 career tackles and primarily served in a reserve role and on special teams as a returner.
Claybrooks is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
